ALFRETON MAN ANDREW PARKIN SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGE DISTRIBUTION AND ONLINE PREDATION

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Alfreton and the wider Derbyshire area, Andrew Parkin, a 47-year-old resident of Mansfield Road, was found guilty of possessing and distributing a large number of indecent images of children, as well as engaging in online conversations that revealed his disturbing fantasies involving young girls.

Authorities acted on intelligence received about Parkin’s online activities and launched a raid on his home on April 28 of the previous year. During the operation, police seized multiple electronic devices, including computers and tablets, which were subsequently analyzed for evidence. The investigation uncovered a horrifying collection of images and chat logs that detailed his involvement in child abuse material and his disturbing online behavior.

According to the prosecution, the chat logs revealed that Parkin referred to himself as a “horny guy (who) likes them young,” and he engaged in conversations with other users about the kidnapping and rape of young girls, some as young as nine. One chat log included an exchange with a user who offered to supply him with new child abuse images featuring live victims, indicating a disturbing willingness to participate in ongoing abuse.

Further analysis of the seized devices uncovered more than 2,700 images being shared with 77 different users through a password-protected Dropbox account. The images were categorized into three levels of severity, with 131 of the most serious Category A photographs and 39 Category A videos. The chat logs also contained graphic discussions about the rape and abduction of children, with Parkin actively encouraging the distribution of abuse images and even discussing the possibility of future abuse involving children who could be made available for exploitation.

One particularly alarming aspect of the case involved a chat where Parkin almost arranged to meet with a user, with the intention of involving young children in the abuse. The conversations included explicit references to live abuse images of children, further highlighting the extent of his depravity.

Parkin pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including making 353 indecent images of children, between January 2008 and April 2016. These included 131 of the most serious Category A images and 39 Category A videos. He also admitted to two counts of distributing indecent images between June 2013 and April 2016.

At Derby Crown Court, Judge Peter Cooke sentenced Parkin to three years and ten months in prison. In his remarks, the judge emphasized the severity of the case, stating: “This represents a bad case of distribution where over 2,000 images had been shared by you to 77 other users. You chatted about kidnap and rape fantasies of little girls aged nine or ten. But far and away the worst aspect of this case is you encouraging the distribution of abuse images where another user was claiming they had access to two children who could be made available for future abuse. Your contact could easily have solicited fresh child abuse images, not ones downloaded from the internet, which you could have distributed.”
