ANDREW MCGOWN FROM LLANDYSUL ADMITS TO NEARLY 10,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN WALES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Llandysul and the wider region, Andrew McGown, a 62-year-old resident of 11 Tanybryn in Llandysul, has admitted to possessing an alarming number of indecent images of children.The charges against McGown stem from a decade-long period during which he is accused of creating nearly 10,000 such images, a revelation that has sent ripples through local authorities and residents alike.
On the 17th of May, McGown appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court to face the serious allegations.
During the hearing, he entered guilty pleas to charges that include the production of a total of 9,969 indecent photographs of children.
Of these, 160 images are classified as the most severe Category A, indicating the highest level of harm and depravity.
The images were reportedly created in Llandysul between November 14, 2013, and May 12 of the previous year, highlighting a prolonged period of offending that spanned over ten years.
In addition to the child exploitation charges, McGown faces a further serious accusation involving the possession of 52 extreme pornographic images.
These images depict a person performing oral sex with an animal, adding a disturbing dimension to the case and raising concerns about the extent of his involvement in illegal and morally reprehensible activities.
The case has been scheduled for a sentencing hearing at Swansea Crown Court, where McGown is expected to be formally sentenced for his crimes.
The hearing is set for June 7, and it is anticipated that the court will impose a significant penalty given the gravity of the offences and the number of images involved.
