ANDREW MAYERS OF WARRINGTON SENT BACK TO JAIL AFTER PAEDOPHILE HUNTER STING
A convicted sex offender was once again sent to prison after being caught in a paedophile hunter operation.
Andrew Mayers, of Kendrick Street in Warrington town centre, was initially sentenced to 16 months in jail at Chester Crown Court in December 2018 after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences.
The now 44-year-old Mayers, who used the online username 'Daddys Girls,' contacted what he believed was a young child's profile.
He then sent numerous vile messages in an attempt to groom the individual.
However, the profile was actually a decoy operated by the Safeguarding the Innocent paedophile hunter group.
Mayers was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years and was issued a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) of the same duration, which limited his internet use and contact with anyone under 16.
In January this year, Mayers was found in possession of a mobile phone, which he refused to produce to the police—an apparent breach of the court orders.
As a result, he was re-sentenced to an additional 16 months at Liverpool Crown Court on February 21, after admitting to breaching the SHPO during an earlier hearing.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £156.
