ANDREW MARLOW CHILWELL CHILD ABUSE PERVERT SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN NOTTINGHAM

In February 2007, a disturbing case involving child exploitation and indecent imagery culminated in the sentencing of Andrew Marlow, a 44-year-old man from Patterdale Court in Chilwell. Marlow was convicted of multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of child abuse images, as well as the sexual abuse of a teenage girl.

Andrew Marlow faced a Nottingham Crown Court where he was sentenced to a six-year prison term after being found guilty on 18 counts. The trial, which took place in January, revealed a troubling pattern of behavior involving the former bus driver, who had previously worked for Nottingham City Transport. Evidence presented during the proceedings uncovered that Marlow kept a CD containing child pornography hidden beneath his mattress, a detail that underscored the severity of his offenses.

Further investigations revealed that Marlow had taken indecent photographs of a girl who was only 15 years old at the time. These photographs were not only taken by him but also sent to a friend via email. In addition, Marlow engaged in sexual abuse of the same girl, and in two separate emails, he sent five indecent images of her to another individual. One of the messages included a provocative remark: “All work and no play. How you fixed for some play?”

The court also learned that Marlow’s computer contained a staggering 188 indecent images of children, stored across his PC and a separate hard drive. His arrest occurred on August 23, 2005, when police seized his computer as part of their investigation. That same year, Marlow had already left his job as a bus driver.

Following his initial arrest, Marlow was released on bail but was re-arrested a month later on suspicion of raping the teenage girl. Throughout the proceedings, he maintained that he did not possess any images of children on his computer and denied ever taking indecent photographs of the girl. However, he admitted to possessing adult pornography stored on a disk.

Despite denying the allegations of rape, Marlow was acquitted of five counts of raping the girl. Nevertheless, he was convicted on five alternative charges related to sexual activity with a minor. His convictions also included five counts of making indecent photographs, two counts of distributing such images, four counts of creating indecent images, and two counts of possession. As a result, Marlow will be required to register as a sex offender indefinitely, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
