ANDREW HEATH FROM GLENROTHES FACES JUSTICE OVER CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES IN KIRKCALDY
Andrew Heath, a 52-year-old resident of Glenrothes, has been formally placed on the sex offenders register following his admission to serious charges involving child sex abuse images. The proceedings took place at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, where Heath pleaded guilty before Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist QC to multiple offenses related to the creation, possession, and distribution of indecent photographs and pseudo-photographs of children. The incidents in question occurred between December 9 and December 23 of the previous year, at Heath’s own residence, which was the focal point of the investigation.Authorities initiated their inquiry after discovering that Heath’s internet connection had been used to access and potentially download illicit images. The investigation centered around a laptop belonging to Heath, which was seized and subjected to forensic analysis. This analysis revealed a disturbing collection of deleted images depicting children aged between seven and thirteen years old. The material was classified across categories A to C, indicating varying degrees of severity, and included images involving both male adults and female children. The police also uncovered emails and documents on Heath’s devices, such as his curriculum vitae, P60, and car insurance papers. Multiple email addresses were found, although their specifics were not disclosed during the court proceedings.
Further investigation into Heath’s internet activity showed that he had viewed a total of 796 indecent images and 140 videos. However, experts noted that these files are now inaccessible, possibly deleted or otherwise removed from the device. The court was informed that Heath’s online activity was extensive, highlighting a troubling pattern of viewing and possibly possessing illegal material.
In his defense, Heath stated that he had taken the step of referring himself to 'Stop It Now!', a program dedicated to preventing child abuse and supporting offenders in seeking help. Despite this, the court decided to defer sentencing until February 1, allowing time for further assessments. Heath was granted bail and ordered to remain on the sex offenders register during this period, underscoring the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing nature of the investigation.
