ANDREW GRIFFITHS ILKESTON HORROR: CHILD PORNOGRAPHY DISCOVERED BY POLICE IN DERBYSHIRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Ilkeston, police uncovered a cache of illegal and highly disturbing material involving children on the computer of local resident Andrew Griffiths.The investigation began when authorities executed a search warrant at Griffiths' residence on Lord Haddon Road in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in February of the previous year.
During the search, law enforcement officials seized a computer tower, a hard drive, and two laptops, all of which were subjected to detailed forensic analysis.
When confronted by police, Griffiths did not deny the presence of illicit material; instead, he reportedly acknowledged the evidence, stating, “What you are looking for is there.” The Nottingham Crown Court was informed that the materials found included over 200 images depicting children, alongside more than 300 video files.
These files varied in severity, with some classified at the highest levels of indecency.
The images and videos involved minors as young as five years old and up to twelve, highlighting the grave nature of the offense.
Andrew Griffiths faced multiple charges, ultimately pleading guilty to ten counts of making indecent photographs and seven counts of possession of such material.
The court heard that Griffiths had taken responsibility for his actions immediately upon police questioning, which was considered a mitigating factor during sentencing.
Judge James Sampson delivered his verdict, imposing a three-year community order on Griffiths.
As part of the sentence, Griffiths is required to participate in a community sex offender group work programme and must also register as a sex offender for a period of five years.
The judge acknowledged Griffiths' previously good character and noted that he appeared genuinely ashamed of his conduct, which was taken into account during sentencing.
