ANDREW FEARNLEY-HILL AND HIS SHOCKING PUBLIC EXPOSURE IN WARRENTON
A notorious sex offender, Andrew Fearnley-Hill, has been sentenced to a year in prison after being caught in a shocking act of public indecency at a bus stop in Warrington. The incident occurred on the night of July 2 this year, a day that also marks his birthday, and has once again brought attention to his lengthy history of similar offences.
According to court proceedings, police officers patrolling a busy roadway in Warrington observed Fearnley-Hill standing fully nude at a bus stop located on Folly Lane.
Judging by their report, he was holding his genital area, giving the impression that he was engaged in a self-stimulatory sex act.
The officers, upon approaching him, noted that he was visibly intoxicated—slurring his words and surrounded by empty beer cans—and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
The officer’s testimony indicated that Fearnley-Hill was exhibiting highly inappropriate behaviour in broad daylight, with his genitals fully exposed to traffic and pedestrians passing by.
His pants and underwear were found discarded on the ground beside him.
The location is situated across from residential homes and is regularly busy, making his actions particularly alarming to residents and passersby.
During the court hearing conducted via video link from HM Prison Altcourse, prosecuting attorney Joanne Cronshaw outlined the details of the offence, emphasizing Fearnley-Hill’s extensive criminal record.
The defendant, aged 52 and residing on Lovely Lane, Warrington, has accumulated a total of 17 previous convictions, comprising 26 separate offences.
Among these convictions, 11 are related to sex offences, including 10 counts of public exposure or outraging public decency, and one for sexual assault.
His prior history includes incidents where he approached women in the nude and engaged in similar inappropriate acts.
The court heard that Fearnley-Hill was currently incarcerated on a recall after breaching license conditions, and the recent offence was committed while he was out on temporary release.
His criminal record clearly demonstrates a pattern of escalating behaviour, which the judge underscored during sentencing.
Defence lawyer Jeremy Rawson pleaded mitigating circumstances, highlighting that Fearnley-Hill had displayed remorse by admitting guilt at the magistrates’ court and during police interviews.
The lawyer also pointed out that his client suffers from a heart condition and takes a combination of medications that do not mix well with alcohol, a factor that may have influenced his actions.
Judge Gary Woodhall responded firmly, acknowledging Fearnley-Hill’s repeat offender status and his long-standing pattern of public exposure.
The judge remarked that none of the interventions or previous sentences had been effective enough to prevent further offences.
Given the gravity of the latest offence, the judge stated that only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
He emphasized the high risk Fearnley-Hill poses for re-offending and made it clear that the court would not consider suspension or leniency.
Consequently, Andrew Fearnley-Hill was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years and subject to supervised post-release monitoring for one year.
The judge concluded by warning him that if he continues his pattern of offending, he will invariably face additional prison sentences, underscoring the seriousness of his criminal behaviour and the importance of ongoing supervision.
