May 2010 Man jailed over sex assaults A PAEDOPHILE from York has been banned from working with children for the rest of his life and sent to jail after his victim spoke out. Andrew William Dalton, now 52, abused a boy for years, starting when the child was at primary school, York Crown Court heard. But his crimes went unpunished for decades until the boy, now a man, was able to speak about the repeated ordeals he endured in the 1970s. After hearing from both the victim and Dalton, a York jury convicted Dalton, of Beckfield Lane, Acomb, of five offences of indecent assault after a trial. Dalton was jailed for 18 months. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years and disqualified from working with children in any capacity indefinitely.
