ANDREW CLARK FROM IMMINGHAM SENTENCED TO OVER SEVEN YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN COTTINGHAM

In a significant legal development, Andrew Clark, a 36-year-old resident of Pelham Road in Immingham, has been sentenced to a prison term exceeding seven years after admitting to multiple serious sex offences. The case, which drew considerable attention, stems from incidents that occurred in Cottingham between June and October of 2012.

Clark was arrested by police on June 11, following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault involving a girl under the age of 13. The investigation was led by Detective Constable Teresa Colledge, who confirmed that Clark faced seven counts of sexual assault against the young girl. These charges were formally brought against him, and he pleaded guilty to all of them during his court appearance at Hull Crown Court in December.

On the day of sentencing, the court handed down a sentence of seven years and four months to Clark, effectively removing him from the community for a substantial period. The judge’s decision was welcomed by law enforcement officials involved in the case, including DC Colledge, who expressed her relief and satisfaction with the outcome. She stated, “Myself and the officers that worked on this investigation welcome the sentence handed by the Judge at Hull Crown Court.”

DC Colledge further emphasized the impact of Clark’s actions, saying, “Andrew Clark is a man who caused significant distress to a vulnerable girl and, all along he knew that everything he was doing was wrong and what potential harm this was causing to her.” She added her hope that the lengthy sentence would serve as a form of justice and provide some measure of closure for the victim and her family. “I am pleased that this paedophile has been locked away for a number of years and does not pose any further harm to his victim. I also hope that this sentence will help bring some closure to her.”

The officer acknowledged the emotional toll the ordeal has taken on the young girl and her loved ones, describing the case as a “harrowing ordeal” for all involved. She concluded by expressing her hope that the victim can now begin to rebuild her life in a positive direction, free from the shadow of her trauma.
