ANDREW BUTLER SENTENCED TO 27 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN DORSET
A man named Andrew John Butler has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after a series of deeply disturbing sexual offences committed against two young girls spanning nearly a decade.The heinous crimes, which included multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, took place in the North Dorset region, with the victims being under the age of 13 at the times of the offences.
The case against Butler culminated in a trial held at Bournemouth Crown Court, where he was found guilty of several serious charges.
The court heard that the abuse occurred between 2010 and 2019, a period during which the two young victims endured repeated instances of sexual misconduct inflicted by Butler.
Details of the case revealed the extent of the trauma caused, with the victims enduring ongoing suffering over many years.
Andrew John Butler, aged 54, a resident of High Street in Farnham, was formally charged and subsequently convicted on multiple counts, including seven counts of rape, two additional charges of raping a child under 13, and two counts of sexual activity with a child under 13.
The sentencing took place on Friday, June 2, at Bournemouth Crown Court, resulting in a 27-year prison term for Butler.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Adam Taylor from Dorset Police expressed his commendation for the victims’ bravery.
He stated, "I want to praise the victims in this case for the courage they have shown in coming forward and supporting our investigation as well as the strength they have shown throughout the court process.
Andrew Butler subjected these girls to horrific sexual abuse and through their bravery in coming forward, he has now been held accountable for his actions and faces a significant period behind bars." He further emphasized the importance of victim support and the department’s commitment to justice, adding, "I hope this sends a message to all victims of sexual abuse that we will do all we can to investigate offences and ensure offenders are brought to justice, while we will also make sure victims are supported.
