ANDREW BISHOP SCARBOROUGH CHILD RAPIST SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN LEEDS CROWN COURT

In a case that has shocked the community of Scarborough, Andrew Bishop, a 38-year-old man, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after being convicted of the heinous crime of raping a child under the age of 13. The sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court, following a conviction that was reached after a rigorous five-day trial at York Crown Court in May.

Despite his denial of the charges throughout the proceedings, the jury found Bishop guilty of the serious offence. The judge presiding over the case, Judge John Taylor, addressed the court during the sentencing, expressing his awareness of the profound impact such crimes have on victims. Judge Taylor remarked, “I am aware of the effect it will have had on the victim and I note that you have not yet shown remorse for your offence.”

Following the sentencing, the victim’s mother spoke to the Evening News, sharing her relief and emotional state.
