ANDREW BEASLEY NAKED EXHIBITIONIST IN NORTHALLERTON SHOCKS COMMUNITY AND TEACHING REGULATOR

In May 2016, the case of Andrew Beasley, a former assistant head teacher from Northallerton, took a disturbing turn as he was officially banned from teaching indefinitely following a series of shocking incidents involving public indecency.

Beasley, aged 42, was found to have repeatedly exposed himself to unsuspecting passers-by from the comfort of his own living room window. These incidents occurred on three separate occasions while he was employed at Eston Park School in Middlesbrough. The National College for Teaching and Leadership detailed that Beasley deliberately revealed his private parts to three women, one of whom was out with her seven-year-old granddaughter.

The young girl reportedly pointed out to her grandmother, saying, “Grandma, he’s got no clothes on,” highlighting the disturbing nature of the exposure. The community and authorities were left appalled by these events, which cast a shadow over Beasley’s professional and personal reputation.

Back in May 2014, residents of Allerton Close in Northallerton, a typically peaceful cul-de-sac, experienced an unsettling ordeal when Beasley was caught parading stark naked inside his home. The incident was so bizarre that it drew the attention of neighbors who witnessed him laughing and staring out from his window with his genitals exposed.

Beasley, a father of two and a former deputy head of PE at Eston Park Academy in Middlesbrough, was dubbed an exhibitionist during his trial at Teesside Crown Court. His behavior was described as increasingly emboldened, with some witnesses initially choosing to overlook or dismiss his actions, perhaps out of discomfort or fear of confrontation.

Prosecutor Paul Newcombe emphasized that Beasley, originally from South Yorkshire, had become more confident in his exhibitionism, which caused distress among the residents. The neighbors’ reactions ranged from initial tolerance to concern, especially among women who had seen him in a state of undress.

During the trial, Beasley’s defense attempted to portray a different narrative, suggesting that the complainants colluded against him as part of a campaign. Beasley denied deliberately exposing himself and claimed that many of the incidents were false or misrepresented. He also alleged that one neighbor, who claimed to have seen him expose himself over 20 times, held a grudge against him for chopping down a tree on railway land near his home.

He maintained that he was often away from home during the reported incidents, citing reasons such as being at work, walking his dog, or attending a Northallerton Town football match. In court, Beasley appeared confident, even joking about his penchant for wearing minimal clothing and his fondness for a cheap pair of pink shorts he bought for summer wear.

Following the trial, the jury convicted Beasley on three charges of exposure, acquitting him of six others. Recorder Anton Lodge sentenced him to an 11-month community order but clarified that Beasley would not be required to register as a sex offender. The judge remarked that only he could determine the reasons behind Beasley’s behavior.

Community members expressed relief and gratitude towards the police for their support throughout the case. One resident of Allerton Close described the ordeal as “literally hell,” reflecting the distress caused by Beasley’s actions.

Meanwhile, a woman familiar with Beasley described him as a “fun guy” with a large circle of friends, expressing disbelief at his conduct. She noted that some of his close friends might find it difficult to accept what he has done, and while some may continue to support him, others are likely to avoid him altogether.

Overall, the case has left a lasting impact on the Northallerton community, raising questions about safety, privacy, and the boundaries of acceptable behavior in residential neighborhoods.
