BURNLEY MAN ANDREW AYERS JAILED FOR VICIOUS ATTACKS ON EX-PARTNER AND HER NEW PARTNER
Andrew Ayers, aged 27, was convicted after he was found to have committed multiple acts of violence against his ex-partner and her new partner. The court heard that the first incident happened in December when Ayers, while on license for previous offences, drove to his ex-partner's father's house, grabbed a knife, and held it to her neck while begging her for her life.
Later, on January 9, he drove to her house, climbed into her bedroom, and attacked her new partner with a vodka bottle before throwing it on the floor.
He then repeatedly punched the victim and strangled him to the point of suffocation, forcing him to jump out of a window into the snow while wearing only his underwear.
The ex-partner described Ayers as having begun steroids and cocaine use during her pregnancy, which led to a significant change in his behavior.
The injuries sustained by the victims included a broken heel bone and head injuries requiring glue, with ongoing mental health effects.
Ayers was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and was issued a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his ex-partner.
The judge highlighted that Ayers had returned to violence immediately after being released from prison, showing no regard for the safety and well-being of others.
His actions have left lasting physical and psychological trauma on his victims.
