FALKIRK SEX OFFENDER ANDREW AUCOTT SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR ABUSING YOUNG GIRLS

In a case that has shocked the community of Falkirk, Andrew Aucott, a 46-year-old convicted sex offender, has been sentenced to five years in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving the abuse of young girls. The offences, which spanned several years, included multiple instances of sexual assault and exploitation, some of which occurred while the victims were asleep and unaware of the danger they were in.

According to court records, Aucott used his mobile phone to record many of these disturbing incidents, further compounding the severity of his crimes. The investigation was initiated after two of his victims courageously came forward and reported the abuse to the police in late 2013. Their testimonies prompted a thorough police inquiry that uncovered a disturbing pattern of predatory behaviour.

Andrew Aucott appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on a Monday, where he pleaded guilty to a total of eight sex-related charges. Among these charges was an attempt to rape one of the young girls. The court proceedings revealed that Aucott had a prior conviction from the late 1980s for abusing a four-year-old girl, indicating a troubling history of sexual misconduct.

Judge John Morris QC sentenced Aucott to five years in prison and ordered that he be placed under supervision for an additional two years following his release. The court heard that the victims, some of whom visited Aucott’s family home in Falkirk, were targeted during these visits. One girl, aged 12, was sexually assaulted sometime between December 2010 and May 2011. Another girl, who was just seven years old when the abuse began, endured a two-year ordeal that included an attempt to rape her.

Prosecutor Alan Cameron detailed the extent of the abuse, stating, “She could not say how many times this had happened, but stated that it happened regularly after the first incident.”

Police investigations were triggered in December of the previous year when the victims disclosed the abuse. A search of Aucott’s home uncovered a collection of child abuse images and videos stored on his computer and mobile devices. These included footage of the attempted rape victim and two other young girls as they slept, as well as images of unidentified females, with Aucott’s hand visible in two of the photographs.

During the course of the investigation, another girl came forward, revealing that she had also been abused by Aucott. Her mother, in February 2014, was discussing Aucott’s arrest with a friend when her daughter entered the room and disclosed that Aucott had previously indecently touched her. The girl, aged between eight and nine at the time of the abuse, recounted that the assaults occurred between 2010 and 2012 and that the abuse was “regular.”

It was also revealed that Aucott had previously served a six-month detention in connection with an earlier case of abuse involving a young girl in 1987. The court’s verdict underscores the gravity of his repeated offences and the ongoing threat he posed to vulnerable children in Falkirk and beyond.
