AMDE BUTTERFIELD FROM WARRINGTON ESCAPES PRISON AFTER CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGE SCANDAL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Warrington, Amde Butterfield, a 24-year-old resident of Birchwood, was found to possess an extensive and disturbing collection of child sexual abuse images and videos.Despite the severity of the evidence against him, Butterfield was handed a sentence that allows him to remain in the community, raising concerns about the adequacy of the punishment for such heinous crimes.
Butterfield was charged with multiple offenses related to indecent images of children, including possession, making, and distribution of such material.
The charges also encompassed possession of prohibited images and extreme pornography involving animals.
The case was brought before Chester Crown Court, where Butterfield appeared on Thursday, August 3.
The prosecution outlined the chilling details of his digital activities, revealing that he had downloaded a total of 177 images and videos depicting child abuse.
Of these, 74 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe form of abuse involving child rape.
The remaining images were categorized as 67 in Category B and 36 in Category C, collected over a period spanning from July 2018 to August 2022.
Further forensic analysis of Butterfield’s devices uncovered 22 prohibited images of children, with 13 of these images having been distributed to other individuals with similar perverted interests.
Authorities also discovered a staggering 248 images of extreme pornography involving bestiality, highlighting the disturbing extent of his online activities.
The images and videos were described by the court as 'explicit', 'grossly offensive', and 'obscene', underscoring the severity of the material Butterfield possessed.
Despite the gravity of these findings, Butterfield pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court, presided over by Judge Teague, sentenced him to 14 months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years.
As part of his rehabilitation, Butterfield is required to complete 30 days of the Horizon sex offender programme, along with 30 days of other rehabilitation activities.
Additionally, he must undertake 180 hours of unpaid community work.
The court also mandated that he register as a sex offender and adhere to notification requirements for a period of 10 years.
Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed, which will remain in effect for the same duration, aiming to restrict his future activities and protect the community from potential harm.
