LUTON MEN ALYAS HUSSAIN AND SLAMET NAZIR SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS EACH FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON WOMAN IN LUTON
In a disturbing case that shocked the community of Luton, two men have been convicted and sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their involvement in a violent and heinous assault on a woman. The incident unfolded on the afternoon of March 3 last year, when police officers responded to distress calls from members of the public who had heard the woman’s screams echoing through the Hockwell Ring area.
Upon arriving at the scene around 12:30 pm, law enforcement officials discovered a woman in a severely distressed state.
She had been subjected to a brutal attack that involved rape, sexual assault, and physical violence using objects.
The severity of her injuries and the brutality of the assault underscored the heinous nature of the crime.
The two suspects, identified as Alyas Hussain, aged 41 and residing on Newark Road, and Slamet Nazir, aged 38 from Cavendish Road, were quickly apprehended by police following the incident.
Their arrest was facilitated by the community members who, disturbed by the screams, provided crucial information that led to their capture.
During the trial at Luton Crown Court, a jury found both men guilty of multiple charges, including rape, assault by penetration, and wounding with intent.
The court heard evidence of their involvement in the attack, which was characterized by its brutality and the evident disrespect and contempt they held for their victim.
Judge Rebecca Herbert delivered the sentencing, describing the attack as “an appalling, brutal joint assault.” She remarked on Hussain’s attitude, noting that he displayed an arrogant belief, as evidenced by his demeanor when speaking to police, that the victim was somehow expendable.
The judge pointed out that while Hussain was less directly involved in the sexual assaults, his violent actions created the environment that allowed the assault to occur.
Hussain was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison for charges of rape, assault by penetration, and wounding with intent.
Nazir received the same 15-year sentence for his role in the attack and was also ordered to register as a sex offender, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring.
This case highlights the ongoing issues of violence and sexual assault within the community of Luton, and the justice served underscores the importance of community vigilance and law enforcement efforts in addressing such heinous crimes.
