ALLAN YOUNG SHAKEN BABY IN LONDON: TRAGIC CASE OF INFANT'S FATAL INJURIES

A tragic case has emerged involving Allan Young, a man from London, who is currently standing trial on charges of manslaughter following a devastating incident that resulted in the death of his infant son. The case has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the injuries inflicted on the child and the long-lasting consequences that followed.

According to court proceedings, Allan Young's actions in 1998 led to catastrophic brain injuries sustained by his newborn son, Michael Winn. The injuries were caused by Young shaking the infant, a violent act that resulted in severe trauma to the child's brain. The initial diagnosis at the time was shaken baby syndrome, a condition often linked to abusive shaking, which causes bleeding and swelling in the brain.

Michael Winn was hospitalized with bleeding in the brain, and the injuries inflicted during the incident left him with lifelong disabilities. These included cerebral palsy, a curvature of the spine, and a host of other health issues such as difficulty breathing, blindness, incontinence, and an inability to speak. His physical and cognitive development was profoundly impaired, and by the time of his death in 2011, Michael was described by his adoptive mother as having the mental functioning of a six-week-old infant.

It was revealed during the trial that Allan Young had admitted to causing grievous bodily harm in 1999, shortly after the incident. However, it was only after Michael's death, which occurred 12 years later, that he was formally charged with manslaughter. The court heard that Young was living with his partner, Erica Francis, at the time of the incident. She noticed that Michael was unwell later that day, which prompted concern and subsequent medical attention.

Young admitted to shaking the baby because he could not stop crying, a response that tragically resulted in the severe injuries.
