In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Irvine and Kilmarnock, Alistair McKeeman has been convicted on serious charges related to the viewing and downloading of indecent images of children. McKeeman, who now resides in Bourtreehill, Irvine, was sentenced to three years on the sex offenders register, with additional requirements including supervision, 250 hours of unpaid community service, and the removal of his long hair to perhaps reflect a new chapter in his life. The sentencing followed his guilty plea to multiple charges involving the exploitation of minors through digital images.

Details of the case emerged during a court hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, where it was disclosed that McKeeman engaged in these illicit activities while his newborn son was at home. His partner of five years, Hazel, recounted the harrowing experience of discovering his disturbing online searches and the impact it had on her life. Hazel, who has since fled Kilmarnock to escape McKeeman and his family, described her ordeal as a complete upheaval, forced to abandon her home, her job, and her social circle.

Hazel expressed her anguish, stating, “When it all came out, it was like watching your partner die and a monster taking over then telling you all this horrible stuff. I had to give up everything at once. My home, my job, my friends. I’ve been left with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety.” She also revealed that McKeeman had repeatedly contacted her after her departure, calling her his “bitter sweet accident,” prompting her to seek legal protection through an interdict.

The revelation of McKeeman’s disturbing preferences came after Hazel discovered search terms on his computer that she found deeply unsettling. Her suspicion grew as she uncovered evidence that suggested he was viewing child pornography, which she feared might have involved their own child. Her account detailed a tense confrontation, where she questioned McKeeman about the searches. He admitted to watching such material, claiming he was at work when she found out. Hazel described his attitude as confrontational and dismissive, asking if he had ever harmed their son. They moved from their flat on Sinclair Court in Kilmarnock to a family home on Ashdale Road, and Hazel became pregnant. Together, they started a business, Ayrshire Window Cleaning, and appeared to be building a normal life. But beneath this facade, McKeeman’s depravity was escalating.

Hazel’s discovery of his illicit activities was a turning point. She recounted asking him when he had been viewing the images, to which he replied, “When you’re out, or at night.” She revealed that he would get up in the middle of the night to indulge in his disturbing habits, even during her six-day labor. She expressed suspicion about his motives for wanting her to conceive again so quickly, especially his desire for a girl, which she found troubling.

Following her revelations, authorities conducted thorough checks to ensure Hazel was not involved or aware of McKeeman’s criminal behavior and to assess her suitability as a mother. The police also examined her son’s photographs and cross-referenced them with child exploitation databases to rule out any abuse or victimization.
