ALISON SKINGSLY SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN LINCOLN FOR TRAGIC INCIDENT IN CROWLAND

A 43-year-old woman named Alison Skingsly has been sentenced to a decade in prison following a fatal incident at a pub in Crowland, Lincolnshire. The court established that she drove her vehicle while her partner, Kevin Nix, aged 46, was clinging onto the bonnet. Skingsly explained that she hit the brakes to avoid hitting a pigeon after an argument with Mr. Nix, whom she believed was flirting with another woman. Lincoln Crown Court found her guilty of manslaughter but acquitted her of murder. The court was told that Mr. Nix stood in front of her car and climbed onto the bonnet in an attempt to prevent her from driving under the influence. He was subsequently thrown from the vehicle, hitting his head on the road, which caused traumatic brain injuries. Sadly, Mr. Nix passed away in hospital three days later. The police responded after Mr. Nix managed to call 999 while still on the car’s bonnet. During the incident, Skingsly was reported to have been aggressive towards officers and claimed she had been assaulted by Mr. Nix. The judge, John Pini QC, stated that he was confident Ms. Skingsly was not assaulted by her partner and described the case as “a serious case of manslaughter.” He called the event horrifying, noting that the car left the pub with Mr. Nix hanging on and reportedly asking, ‘Are you trying to kill me?’ The sentence reflects the gravity of her actions and the tragic outcome of the incident.
