ALI REHMAN AND FAISAR YOUNIS SENTENCED IN DEWSBURY CHILD SEX ABUSE CASE

In May 2012, a harrowing case of child sexual exploitation and assault unfolded in Dewsbury, leading to significant legal repercussions for those involved.

A 26-year-old man named Ali Rehman was sentenced to a lengthy term of 11 years in prison at Leeds Crown Court for his role in the brutal rape of a 15-year-old girl who was heavily intoxicated at the time of the assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Rehman was found guilty of his part in the attack, which took place in Dewsbury in May 2010.

The court was told that the young girl was subjected to a series of heinous acts, during which she was treated as little more than an object for abuse.

An earlier hearing revealed that Rehman admitted to raping the girl earlier in the year, acknowledging his involvement in the assault.

The case also implicated Faisar Younis, aged 23, who pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a minor and was subsequently sentenced to four years in prison.

A third individual, Larasab Hussain, aged 45, of Headfield Road, Savile Town, Dewsbury, also faced charges of sexual assault and is scheduled for sentencing on July 4.

The trial was initially halted earlier this year after pleas were entered by Rehman, Younis, and Hussain.

During the proceedings, the court was shown video footage depicting the naked teenager being indecently touched by some of the men involved.

Prosecutors explained that the video, recovered from one of the men's mobile phones, captured part of a series of sexual assaults on the girl.

The footage showed her distressed and naked while being physically and verbally abused by Rehman and others, emphasizing the brutal nature of the attack.

The court heard that the girl had initially gone to Rehman's residence with a friend, with the intention of purchasing cannabis.

Both were intoxicated after consuming a small bottle of vodka earlier that evening.

At Rehman's house, her condition worsened, and she became so drunk that she could barely walk.

After her friend left, the girl was taken to two additional houses in Dewsbury, where she was assaulted before being returned to Rehman's home.

Police found her there after she was carried over Rehman's shoulder between locations due to her intoxication.

Initially, the girl denied any inappropriate activity, fearing the repercussions of revealing what had happened.

However, she later provided a different account of the events.

Rehman, of Tanhouse Street, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, admitted to three counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.

Younis, of Textile Street, Dewsbury, admitted to sexual activity with a minor, while Hussain admitted to sexual assault.

The case against three other men involved in the initial charges was dropped earlier this year, as the CPS decided not to pursue further evidence against them.

Andrew Horton, a reviewing lawyer with the CPS Yorkshire and Humberside Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit, commented on the case, stating, "This was a highly disturbing case in which the men preyed on a vulnerable child victim.

The victim showed tremendous courage in coming forward and being prepared to give evidence at trial.

We hope that the sentences handed down are some comfort to the victim and that she is now able to begin to rebuild her life." Detective Inspector Andy Leonard of West Yorkshire Police also spoke about the investigation, emphasizing the sensitivity and importance of the case.

He said, "This was an extremely sensitive inquiry that began in May 2010 when the police became aware that a young girl had been raped and sexually exploited by Rehman and the others sentenced today.

They moved their victim to several properties in Dewsbury to avoid detection and prevent her from being found.

The defendants' actions have disgusted the officers involved, and we are very glad to see Rehman and Younis behind bars today.

The victim's bravery in coming forward and her statements were vital in securing these convictions.

This case demonstrates West Yorkshire Police's commitment to vigorously investigating child exploitation and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice."
