ALEXANDER MCMILLAN SENTENCED IN NORTH AYRSHIRE FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENSES IN SALTCOATS AND LARGS
In a significant legal case that has drawn considerable attention in North Ayrshire, Alexander McMillan, a 29-year-old man with ties to Saltcoats, has been handed down a substantial prison sentence after being found guilty of numerous sexual offenses. The conviction stems from a series of disturbing incidents that occurred over a period spanning from November 2016 to June 2021, involving a victim who endured repeated assaults at various locations in Saltcoats and Largs.McMillan’s crimes included not only direct sexual assaults but also acts that involved engaging in sexual activities in the presence of the victim without her consent. The court heard that he committed multiple rapes, some of which resulted in physical injury to the victim. These offenses took place at different addresses within Saltcoats and Largs, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior over several years.
The jury also found McMillan guilty of additional serious offenses, including rapes committed after the victim had explicitly withdrawn her consent. There were further charges related to instances where the victim was asleep and therefore unable to give or refuse consent, underscoring the severity and brutality of his actions.
The High Court in Glasgow presided over the case, where the judge sentenced McMillan to seven years in prison. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed an indefinite non-harassment order to prevent any further contact or intimidation.
