ALEXANDER HUTCHINSON BERNARD FROM CARDIFF CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENSES AND STRANGULATION
A man residing in Cardiff, Alexander Hutchinson Bernard, has been found guilty of multiple serious sexual crimes in a recent court ruling. The case revealed disturbing details about his actions, which involved the use of social media to target his victim. According to court proceedings, Hutchinson Bernard, aged 26, utilized the Facebook platform to locate and identify his victim before carrying out a series of violent and non-consensual sexual acts. The victim, whose account was presented during the trial, described being subjected to two separate assault episodes. During these incidents, Hutchinson Bernard reportedly restrained her by putting her in a headlock and then forced her to perform oral sex against her will. The court heard that during the second assault, he escalated his violence by grabbing her around the throat, creating a terrifying environment of intimidation and control, before again forcing her into oral sex.
Further evidence presented during the trial indicated that Hutchinson Bernard did not stop there. Despite the victim’s lack of consent, he proceeded to vaginally rape her, an act that added to the severity of his crimes. Prosecutor Andrew Davies emphasized the brutality of the case, stating, "The woman did not consent to the sexual activity but the defendant 'cared not at all'."
Following these traumatic events, the victim, who reportedly had experienced some personal difficulties in the past, disclosed the assaults to authorities. This disclosure prompted a police investigation, which uncovered substantial evidence linking Hutchinson Bernard to the crimes. Among the evidence were text messages that contradicted his initial claims of ignorance about the victim. When questioned, Hutchinson Bernard had initially denied any prior relationship or acquaintance with her, but the evidence proved otherwise. It was established that he had met her through Facebook before the assaults took place.
Hutchinson Bernard, whose address is listed as Bideford Road, Llanrumney, was formally convicted on multiple counts, including two charges of rape and one count of intentional strangulation. The court ordered that he be remanded in custody pending his sentencing hearing, scheduled to take place at Cardiff Crown Court on November 1. This case highlights the dangerous potential of social media platforms when exploited for criminal purposes and underscores the serious nature of the sexual offenses committed by Hutchinson Bernard. His conviction marks a significant step in holding him accountable for his actions and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and justice in cases of sexual violence.
