ALEXANDER FULLERTON OF COLCHESTER FACES THIRD JAIL TERM OVER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In September 2014, Alexander Fullerton, a 47-year-old resident of Elianore Road in Colchester, found himself at the center of serious legal proceedings related to child exploitation. Fullerton, who has a troubling history of convictions for similar offenses, was facing the possibility of serving a third prison sentence after he admitted to downloading indecent images of children.

Fullerton’s criminal record includes two previous convictions for child pornography, with his first incarceration occurring in 2002 and a subsequent sentence in 2012. His latest charges stem from police investigations that uncovered evidence of his continued involvement in the possession and distribution of illegal material.

During a court hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, Fullerton pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including downloading indecent pictures and videos of minors. Additionally, he admitted to breaching a sex offence order that had previously been imposed on him, which restricted his access to the internet and devices capable of connecting to the web. The court also noted that Fullerton was in possession of devices with internet access, despite being legally prohibited from having such items.

The police investigation that led to his arrest revealed a memory card containing indecent images, which was discovered on September 9. The court was informed that the evidence was significant and could potentially lead to a lengthy custodial sentence.

Judge Charles Gratwicke, presiding over the case, issued a stern warning to Fullerton, who was released on bail pending sentencing. The judge emphasized that a custodial sentence was almost certain when the case was scheduled for sentencing on September 15. The delay in sentencing was granted to allow the court to determine whether the images found on the memory card were newly acquired or if they had been overlooked during previous police raids. This clarification was deemed crucial in assessing the full extent of Fullerton’s violations and determining the appropriate punishment.
