ALEXANDER BURKE'S BRUTAL CRIMES IN METHIL: SHOCKING ASSAULTS ON PREGNANT WOMEN REVEALED

A man from Methil, identified as Alexander Burke, has been found guilty of a series of violent assaults against two women, some of which involved disturbing acts of physical abuse and dangerous behavior. The court proceedings detailed a troubling pattern of abuse that spanned several years and took place in various locations within the region.

Burke, aged 28 and residing on Methilhaven Road, was convicted of four separate charges related to assaulting both women. These charges included causing injury and putting their lives at risk, as well as engaging in threatening and abusive conduct towards them. The incidents occurred at different times, with one woman being assaulted between May 2011 and August 2014, and the other between May 2017 and April 2018. The assaults took place in shared residences located in Methil, Dysart, and Ballingry.

The court heard harrowing details of Burke’s violent acts. One of his victims recounted how Burke, known colloquially as Sandy, sprayed an aerosol directly into her face, causing her to struggle for breath. She described the terrifying moment when Burke, during an argument, aimed an aerosol can at her throat, leaving her feeling as though she could not breathe. The other woman suffered a different form of abuse; during an incident involving a microwave oven, Burke struck her, leaving a visible red mark on her stomach. This assault occurred while she was pregnant, adding a layer of danger and severity to the incident.

Jurors also considered evidence that Burke repeatedly assaulted the women at their shared homes. Despite some accusations being cleared, such as pushing both women down stairs, setting floors and stairs on fire with petrol, and threatening to ignite it, the court found sufficient evidence of other violent acts. Burke was convicted of four charges, which included assaulting the women to their injury and endangering their lives. The court also noted his threatening and abusive behavior towards them.

During the trial, one of the victims provided a detailed account of a specific incident where Burke physically assaulted her while she was holding her pregnant belly. She explained how he grabbed her hair and attempted to punch her stomach, prompting her to shield her unborn child. She described their relationship as “toxic,” ending just before she gave birth. The mother of the other woman also testified, revealing that Burke would speak to her daughter in a degrading manner, describing her as “like a piece of dirt.” She expressed her concern that her daughter was too frightened to leave the abusive relationship despite her repeated advice to do so.

Burke denied the allegations, claiming self-defense in relation to one of the charges. The court has deferred sentencing until February 25, allowing for further considerations before final judgment. The case highlights a disturbing pattern of violence and intimidation inflicted by Burke on his former partners, raising serious concerns about domestic abuse within the community of Methil.
