ALEX TINDAL SENTENCED IN BRIDGEND FOR HORRIFIC CYBER SEXUAL ABUSE CASES
A man described as a 'sadistic' paedophile, Alex Tindal, 31, of Bridgend, has been convicted of multiple charges related to the online exploitation of children.Over a period of two-and-a-half years, he coerced more than 30 children into performing degrading sexual acts on camera, threatening to distribute the images if they did not send more.
One of his victims was left crying in pain, begging him to stop.
During a sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court, it was revealed that Tindal, who targeted victims on Snapchat while pretending to be a teenage boy, continued his abusive behavior even after his initial arrest.
He forced a girl to send a photo of her little sister’s genitalia under threats of exposure, using images of her and other children to intimidate further.
In 2022, police raided Tindal’s home, confiscating three devices— a mobile phone, a hard drive, and a desktop computer.
Examination uncovered thousands of indecent images of children aged between 10 and 15, as well as communications with minors where he coerced them into sexual acts.
He was arrested again in September 2022 for breaching bail conditions, having set up additional Snapchat accounts used to contact more victims.
Police identified 19 Snapchat accounts under various aliases and interviewed victims who had interacted with him.
The first victim, aged 14 at the time, had sent nearly 400 images, 45 of which were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe illegal content.
Tindal initially claimed to be a 17-year-old, encouraged her to send sexual images, and became increasingly aggressive, threatening to share a video of a girl resembling her to her friends and family.
The victim described her ordeal saying, 'You're making me feel sick to my stomach.
I so want to stop this, please I can't do this anymore.' Tindal told her to continue, and she responded, 'It hurts so f****** bad, I can't do this, please stop, I am f****** begging you.' Her abuse only ended after police arrested him.
Another victim, 13, was found with 100 Category A images.
When Tindal learned of her six-year-old sister, he demanded pictures of the girl’s genitals and threatened to 'ruin her' if she refused, which she did.
His messages included threats like, 'I am going to add your mother’s number, I swear to f****** God, last chance you piece of s**, lie back and f*** yourself properly.' Further victims, totaling 19, were identified, with others remaining unknown.
Tindal used the images obtained to demand more extreme content or threatened to distribute them, sometimes sending the images to victims’ friends.
Several parents described their children becoming aggressive, angry, or displaying signs of distress after their encounters.
The youngest known victim was just 10 years old.
One victim from Germany explained she had health issues, yet Tindal persisted in his abuse.
Tindal pleaded guilty to numerous charges, including 24 counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, nine counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and multiple counts of possession of indecent and extreme images.
Court records noted that he was previously of good character.
Defence lawyer Adam Sharp acknowledged the guilty plea, noting Tindal’s social isolation, depression, past hospitalizations, including an overdose in 2021, and a collapsed lung.
Prosecutors emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, with Judge Daniel Williams describing the offences as 'truly horrifying' and Tindal’s treatment of victims as 'pitiless.' He observed, 'The control you extorted over the girls thrilled you as much as the sexual gratification you obtained.' A probation report highlighted the high risk Tindal poses to children, and the judge sentenced him to 11 years in prison, with an extended four-year license period.
He will serve two-thirds of his term before being eligible for parole.
Additionally, Tindal was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and indefinite sex offender registration requirements.
Detective Constable Martin Charles of South Wales Police commented, ‘This is one of the largest cases our team has worked on, and the strength of evidence gathered left Tindal with no choice but to plead guilty.
