SHOCKING CRIME: ALEX JOHNSTON OF BLETCHLEY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN LUTON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bletchley, Alex Johnston, a 30-year-old naval cadet instructor, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for serious child sex abuse offences. The sentencing took place at Luton Crown Court following Johnston’s guilty plea to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15 years old.

Johnston, who resided on Ennerdale Close in Bletchley, was found to have begun grooming two young female cadets as early as 2013. Over the course of several years, he maintained contact with the girls through messages, gradually building a relationship that eventually led to sexual encounters. His manipulative tactics included paying one of his victims £50 each month in an attempt to silence her and prevent her from disclosing the abuse to others.

The victim, however, eventually contacted the police in 2015 after completing a child safeguarding course. It was during this process that she realized Johnston had exploited his position of trust and taken advantage of her vulnerability. Despite knowing that the girls were under the age of consent, Johnston continued to groom them and engage in sexual activities with both of them.

The case against Johnston was featured in a recent episode of the Channel 4 documentary series '24 Hours In Police Custody,' titled ‘Their Time Will Come,’ which aired on Monday, June 12. The episode highlighted the investigation and the serious nature of the offences committed by Johnston, shedding light on the dangers of grooming and abuse within youth organizations and the importance of safeguarding measures.

Local authorities and community members have expressed their outrage and concern over the case, emphasizing the need for vigilance and stronger protective protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.
