ALEX BUCKLAND CAUGHT IN POOLE PAEDOPHILE HUNTING STING
In a disturbing case that unfolded in Poole, a 26-year-old man named Alex Buckland found himself at the center of a serious criminal investigation after he was caught attempting to engage in illegal sexual activities with minors. The incident occurred in July 2018, when Buckland was confronted by a group of paedophile hunters near his former residence in Poole, a town known for its coastal charm but now marred by this troubling event.
According to court records, Buckland had been communicating with a fake Facebook profile created by the vigilant group Justice 4 Kids.
This profile was a decoy designed to lure individuals like Buckland into revealing their intentions.
When Buckland reached out to the profile, the decoy responded with a friendly message: “Hey, how are you doing?” to which Buckland replied, “Hi, I am 13-years-old.” Initially, Buckland appeared to be remorseful, apologizing and claiming he had not realized the profile was a minor.
However, the situation quickly escalated as Buckland sent explicit images and a video of himself to the decoy.
The court heard that over the course of nearly a month, from March 10 to April 9, there were numerous instances of overtly sexual communication between Buckland and the decoy, who was posing as a 13-year-old girl.
Further evidence revealed that Buckland suggested moving their conversation to WhatsApp, where he planned to meet the girl in person.
During the investigation, Buckland was identified as the individual behind the social media alias Alex Blade.
When confronted by the paedophile hunters, Buckland confirmed his identity and admitted to making contact on Facebook.
Police were called to the scene, and Buckland was subsequently arrested.
During police questioning, Buckland expressed shame and regret for his actions, admitting he had never had a girlfriend and was ashamed of what he had done.
He also confessed to the authorities that he had never intended to harm anyone but was caught up in the situation.
The court also heard that on April 4, 2018, Buckland had sent a friend request to a 15-year-old girl on Facebook.
When she accepted, he initiated a conversation with the comment, “Hey cutie, how are you doing?” During their lengthy chat, Buckland sent indecent images to the girl, who became visibly frightened and uncomfortable.
The girl later told police, “He wouldn’t go away.
I was not encouraging him at all.” She also told Buckland, “You’re creepy,” and expressed her concern about his interest in younger girls, stating, “I have a boyfriend, I think I am a bit young for you.
Why are you hitting on little girls anyway?” Throughout the conversation, the girl made it clear she was only 15 years old, emphasizing her age to Buckland.
Following these events, Buckland faced serious charges.
He pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, including attempting to cause or incite a girl under 13 into sexual activity, traveling with the intent to meet her for a sexual offence, and attempting to communicate sexually with a girl under 16.
The case was adjourned until September 21 for sentencing, leaving the community awaiting the court’s final decision on his fate.
