ALEC MOULE FROM HOLSWORTHY AND LEEDS JAILED FOR SICKENING CAMPAIGN OF RAPE AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Holsworthy, Leeds, and beyond, Alec Moule, a man with a dark history of sexual offenses, has finally been brought to justice after a prolonged period of evading law enforcement authorities. Moule, aged 44, had been on the run since Christmas 2005, when allegations of a heinous series of crimes against two young girls surfaced, leading to a nationwide manhunt that culminated in his dramatic arrest on the Devon coast in August of this year.

His criminal activities spanned over seven years, during which he subjected the victims, who were between nine and 14 years old at the time, to a horrifying campaign of sexual abuse. The abuse reportedly began with acts of touching and escalated to rape, with Moule allegedly luring the girls with alcohol to facilitate his depraved acts. The victims bravely disclosed their suffering to police, revealing that the abuse had persisted over many years, causing immense trauma.

Following the allegations, law enforcement officials tracked Moule down in Skipton, North Yorkshire, in 2006. Despite being located, he denied the accusations and managed to evade immediate arrest. Moule subsequently moved to Bridlington, where he became somewhat known within the local fishing community, working digging bait and earning a modest living. His life took a further turn when he answered bail at Bridlington Police Station but then fled before his scheduled court appearance in Leeds on June 16, 2010.

Despite his absence, Moule was tried in his absence and found guilty of the charges. His whereabouts remained unknown until August of this year, when members of the public in Devon and Cornwall reported seeing a suspicious man acting strangely near the coast. This tip led police to Moule, who was discovered living off the land, reportedly earning money by digging up worms on the beach and selling them to local fishermen.

His arrest was carried out under dangerous conditions on the edge of a cliff as darkness was falling, highlighting the risks involved in apprehending a man with such a violent history. The authorities confirmed that Moule had been residing in the Devon area, far from his previous locations in Leeds and North Yorkshire.

During his sentencing at Leeds Crown Court, Judge Christopher Batty described Moule’s actions as a “campaign of rape,” emphasizing the severity and prolonged nature of his crimes. The judge stated that Moule posed “a serious risk to children,” and expressed concern over his apparent sexual attraction to girls of that age. Moule pleaded guilty to multiple charges of rape and sexual assault, resulting in an indefinite prison sentence. He will be eligible for parole after serving at least eight years.

Furthermore, Moule has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities. The case has left a lasting impact on the victims and the communities involved, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the relentless pursuit of justice in cases of child abuse and sexual violence.
