ALBERT LIVESLEY JAILED FOR 12 YEARS IN CLAYTON SEX OFFENSES
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Clayton, Albert Livesey has been sentenced to a total of twelve years in prison following his conviction on multiple serious charges related to sexual offenses. The court proceedings, held at Manchester Crown Court, revealed the disturbing extent of Livesey's crimes, which spanned over a decade and involved both a young child and a young woman.Livesey, aged 49 and residing on Flint Close in Clayton, was found guilty of three counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault. The court handed down an eight-year sentence for the rape convictions, coupled with an additional four years for the sexual assault charges. Furthermore, he has been ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent any further offenses.
The sexual assaults attributed to Livesey occurred between 1990 and 1996 at a residence in Clayton. The victims during this period ranged in age from five to eleven years old, highlighting the grave nature of his crimes against vulnerable children. The court heard that these assaults took place within the confines of a private home, adding a layer of betrayal and violation of trust.
In a separate set of incidents, Livesey committed two rapes in 2005. These took place at different addresses in Clayton and Gorton, involving a 22-year-old woman who, due to legal restrictions, cannot be publicly identified. These later offenses underscore a pattern of predatory behavior that persisted over many years.
Detective Constable Emma Cyprien, from the Grey Mare Lane Criminal Investigation Department, provided insight into the case, emphasizing the impact on the victims. She stated, “Livesey preyed on two vulnerable victims who did not feel they could say anything at the time of the offences because of what he had told them. I hope this case highlights that even if offences have happened a long time ago, we will investigate them and take all reports very seriously.”
She further stressed the importance of reporting historic abuse, noting that childhood trauma can have lasting effects. “Abuse which takes place during childhood can cause untold damage in later life and I want people to be assured that should you report an incident of historic abuse to us it will be fully investigated in a sensitive manner by specially trained police officers,” she added.
