ALAN ROY FROM BURNTISLAND SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN FIFE

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Fife, Alan Roy, a 62-year-old resident of Burntisland, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for heinous sexual offenses involving young girls. The crimes span several years and involve multiple victims, highlighting a disturbing pattern of abuse that has left lasting scars.

Roy was convicted of raping a girl from the age of 13, with the assaults taking place at various locations including addresses in Kirkcaldy and a caravan park in Fife. These incidents occurred over a period from 1996 to 2000, during which the young girl endured repeated violations. The trauma inflicted was so severe that one of the victims expressed feelings of extreme distress, even stating that she wanted to wash herself in bleach to rid herself of the shame and horror.

Furthermore, Roy was also responsible for two attempted rapes on a second girl in Dysart, another town within Fife. This second victim was between the ages of 11 and 13 at the time of the attempted assaults, adding to the gravity of Roy’s crimes. Despite the serious nature of these allegations, Roy initially denied all charges during his trial at the High Court in Edinburgh. However, the court found him guilty of both rape and attempted rape based on the evidence presented.

During sentencing, Judge Lord Tyre expressed concern over Roy’s continued denial of the offenses, stating, “I am concerned that you continue to deny that any of the events described by the witnesses occurred.” The judge emphasized the severity of Roy’s actions and the impact on the victims, leading to the eight-year prison sentence. Roy will also be required to remain on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities after his release.
