ALAN MITCHELL PRESTON MAN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In August 2017, a man from Preston was handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage girl and making threats to silence her.Alan Mitchell, aged 22, residing on Nelson Crescent in Preston, appeared before Preston Crown Court on Thursday, August 17, where he was sentenced to six and a half years behind bars for eight counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
In addition to his prison term, Mitchell was subjected to a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which came with strict conditions aimed at preventing any future offenses.
The court heard that Mitchell first established contact with the 14-year-old victim in 2015, during which he began spending time with her family.
Over the course of several months, he manipulated her into maintaining secrecy by instructing her to create a private Facebook account through which he could communicate with her.
Throughout their interactions, Mitchell repeatedly encouraged the young girl to engage in sexual activities with him.
His coercive behavior was compounded by threats, including a chilling warning that he would set fire to her family’s home if she disclosed their relationship to anyone.
These threats and manipulative tactics created a climate of fear and silence around the abuse.
The victim’s ordeal was eventually uncovered in December 2015 when she confided in her mother about the abuse she had endured.
This revelation led to an investigation that confirmed Mitchell’s misconduct and resulted in his arrest and subsequent conviction.
The court’s ruling reflects the severity of his actions and the ongoing efforts to protect minors from such predatory behavior.
