ALAN LUXTON OF WELLINGBOROUGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF GIRLS IN 1984 AND 1993
In a case that has spanned decades, Alan Luxton, aged 40 and residing on Windsor Road in Wellingborough, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for a series of disturbing sexual offenses committed against two young girls nearly 20 years ago. The crimes, which involved the manipulation and exploitation of vulnerable minors, have left lasting scars on the victims and have only recently come to light.Luxton's criminal actions took place on two separate occasions, eight years apart, targeting two girls aged 12 and 13 at the time. Both incidents involved the deliberate administration of alcohol—vodka in particular—and, in one case, cannabis, with the intent to impair the victims' judgment and facilitate sexual abuse. The first victim, who was only 12 years old in 1984, was so intoxicated that she vomited and lost consciousness. She later awoke to find herself being sexually assaulted, a traumatic experience that has haunted her for years.
The second victim, whose identity remains protected by law, was subjected to similar treatment on Christmas Eve in 1993. She was given vodka to drink and cannabis to smoke before being sexually assaulted by Luxton. It was only recently that both women decided to come forward and report these crimes, which had long been concealed.
Judge Thomas Corrie presided over the case and sentenced Luxton yesterday. The judge emphasized the gravity of the offenses, stating, "What you did on two separate occasions was to breach the trust reposed in you for two vulnerable girls, and on each occasion, you made alcohol available." He further condemned Luxton's actions, highlighting that he appeared to have believed the girls were sexually stimulated by his conduct, a notion that the judge firmly rejected. "These were distressing offenses, and as you must now realize, they have left their mark on both of these now adult women. They are bound to have left permanent marks on them," Judge Corrie remarked.
As part of his sentence, Luxton was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes. His defense attorney, Steven Evans, acknowledged his client's guilt, stating, "He fully accepts his behavior on these two occasions and would never seek to defend them or blame them away." Evans also praised Luxton for his guilty pleas, which spared the victims the trauma of a trial and cross-examination, describing the pleas as courageous and responsible.
The case has brought to light the long-lasting impact of abuse and the importance of justice for victims who finally find the courage to speak out after many years of silence.
