ALAN FISHER: SCARBOROUGH AND BRIDLINGTON PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS IN PRISON
In a case that has shocked the communities of Scarborough and Bridlington, Alan Fisher, aged 51, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against young boys. The court heard how Fisher, a man with a long history of criminal activity, targeted vulnerable adolescents in these seaside towns, exploiting their trust and innocence over an extended period.Judge Jeremy Richardson, QC, delivered a stern verdict at Hull Crown Court, condemning Fisher as a predatory sex offender who showed no remorse for his actions. The judge described Fisher as a manipulative individual who had committed a total of 20 sex offenses, including five counts of rape, indecent assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and indecency with a minor. Fisher’s crimes spanned several years and involved multiple victims, all of whom were boys aged between 12 and 17.
Fisher’s criminal activities initially took place in Scarborough, where he began abusing boys. When his activities became difficult to conceal, he relocated to Bridlington in an attempt to find new victims. The court was told that Fisher’s abuse was often carried out under the guise of building trust; he would take some of his victims scuba diving, help others find employment, and assist some in securing accommodation in Bridlington, all while secretly perpetrating his sexual crimes.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed disturbing details, including the use of spy cameras to record his victims. Police discovered a pinhole camera hidden in a plant pot and a naked video of a boy stored on Fisher’s flat in South Cliff Road, Scarborough. When authorities searched his home in Manhamhill, Eastfield, in September 2011, they found wiring running from the living room to the bedroom, with a pinhole camera concealed inside a shoebox lid pointing directly at the bed.
The court heard that Fisher’s abuse often went unreported because the victims were reluctant to come forward. One boy believed he had been filmed and sold the footage, while another claimed his drink was spiked before the assault. The police investigation uncovered a pattern of exploitation, with Fisher repeatedly manipulating and abusing vulnerable young males over a period of years.
During sentencing, Judge Richardson emphasized the calculated nature of Fisher’s crimes, noting how he built trust with his victims before luring them into sexual acts. The judge condemned Fisher’s lack of compassion, highlighting the visible anguish of the victims in court. He pointed out that four of the victims were particularly severely affected by the abuse, and their suffering was palpable to everyone present.
Fisher’s criminal history was extensive, dating back to 1986, and included theft, burglary, arson, assault causing actual bodily harm, and possession of offensive weapons. His life was marked by a series of criminal endeavors, including work as a painter, a seller of stolen goods, a fishing boat shareholder, and a property developer. At one point, he even changed his name to Alan Watson in an attempt to evade drug dealers.
One of Fisher’s victims, who was present in court to witness his sentencing, expressed relief and satisfaction with the outcome. The victim applauded when the judge announced the 19-year prison sentence, stating, “Justice has been done. I am pleased with 19 years. He has wrecked a lot of lives, but not anymore.” The court’s decision reflects the severity of Fisher’s crimes and the community’s demand for justice against such predatory behavior.
