ALAN FARISH FROM BRAMPTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN CUMBRIA
In October 2017, a man from Brampton, Alan Farish, was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of multiple child sexual offences. The case was heard at Carlisle Crown Court, where it was revealed that Farish, aged 60, had engaged in inappropriate and predatory behavior towards several young girls under the age of 16.According to court proceedings, Farish repeatedly approached these underage girls with the intent of soliciting sexual activity. He made explicit and unwelcome requests for them to participate in sexual acts that were deemed wholly inappropriate given their age. The court heard that Farish even went as far as offering one of the girls a sum of £40, attempting to persuade her to sleep with him. Despite these overtures, no actual sexual activity was carried out between Farish and the girls involved.
Judge Peter Hughes QC, presiding over the case, emphasized the profound and lasting impact that Farish’s actions had on the victims. The court acknowledged the serious nature of the offences and the potential harm inflicted on the young girls, which warranted a significant custodial sentence.
Farish, who resides on St Martin’s Drive in Brampton, had previously pleaded guilty to one charge of indecency with a child under 16. He also admitted to six counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. These admissions underscored the gravity of his misconduct.
As part of his sentencing, Farish was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life, a measure that will subject him to ongoing monitoring and restrictions. Additionally, he was placed under a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect indefinitely, imposing strict conditions on his behavior. The court also made it clear that Farish is permanently barred from working with children and vulnerable adults, effectively preventing him from holding positions that could put others at risk in the future.
