The incident took place within the bustling shopping centre in the heart of Leeds, where Evans committed a brutal assault on a 13-year-old boy in the toilets of a department store.According to court proceedings, Evans was identified as the perpetrator after he was captured on closed-circuit television footage during the attack. Witnesses observed Evans following the young victim into the British Home Stores, where he then violently assaulted him. The jury was told that Evans punched the boy into a cubicle before raping him, an act that left the community in shock and horror.
