AL KEASBEY LLOYD FROM SKELMERSDALE ESCAPES PRISON DESPITE HORRIFIC CHILD PORNOGRAPHY COLLECTION

In August 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving a man from Skelmersdale named Al Keasbey Lloyd, who was found to possess an extensive and sickening collection of child exploitation images and videos. Lloyd, who began viewing pornography at the tender age of eight, developed a severe addiction to explicit material. Over time, his obsession escalated, and by the age of 13, he was actively seeking out increasingly extreme and illegal content involving children.

Police officers executed a raid on Lloyd’s residence in Skelmersdale after tracing an IP address linked to the upload of indecent images involving pre-pubescent children. During the search, authorities uncovered a horrifying collection stored on various devices, including a computer that Lloyd had assembled himself. The collection comprised hundreds of images and videos, some of which depicted children as young as one year old. Other material stored on hard drives and shared via the social media platform Discord included images of children around eight years old engaging in sexual acts with adults.

Prosecutor Mark Stephenson told Preston Crown Court that the police investigation was initiated after tracing the IP address used to upload these illegal images. Officers found Lloyd residing at his family home with his mother and brother. It was clarified that while both Lloyd and his brother used Discord, the latter was not involved in any wrongdoing. During initial interviews, Lloyd refused to comment, and he was released under investigation, with authorities noting that he and his brother lived at separate addresses.

Subsequently, Lloyd confided in his mother, admitting that he was responsible for accessing and uploading the images. She reported this confession to the police. In a second interview, Lloyd, now aged 21, admitted to downloading the images and explained that he uploaded them to Discord solely for personal viewing at a later time, claiming that he kept the files private and that no children outside his family were involved. He insisted that he was “not sexually attracted to children but was drawn to the images,” describing a cycle of viewing, feeling shame, and then repeating the behavior months later.

It was revealed that Lloyd first accessed such abusive material at age 13, continuing this behavior over a six-year period until his arrest in 2019. Since then, he has not committed any further offences and has no previous criminal record. Authorities found a total of 821 images on his devices, including a computer he had built himself. The images were categorized into different levels of severity: 318 photographs and 12 videos classified as Category A, the most serious; 216 as Category B; and 212 as Category C. Additionally, there were 28 prohibited images of children and 33 depicting extreme pornography.

During sentencing, Recorder Paul Reid QC emphasized the devastating impact such images have on the victims involved. He acknowledged that Lloyd’s actions, while not involving direct contact or publication, still contributed to the cycle of abuse and exploitation. The court noted the seriousness of possessing such a large number of Category A images and the prolonged period over which Lloyd engaged in this illegal activity.

Psychological assessments presented at the hearing highlighted the significant mental health effects of viewing such content from a young age, including the impact of a knife point incident. The judge considered a custodial sentence but ultimately decided that Lloyd would benefit more from a community-based order aimed at rehabilitation. He was sentenced to a 36-month community order, which includes 90 days of supervised rehabilitation and participation in an accredited program addressing his sexual attraction behaviors.

Furthermore, Lloyd was issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), restricting his access to certain online platforms and contact with minors. Recorder Reid warned Lloyd of the gravity of his actions, stating, “You must understand how close you came to going to prison today. This behaviour cannot happen again, and if it does, you now what will happen to you.” The court’s decision underscores the importance of rehabilitation and the ongoing threat posed by individuals with such offending histories, even when they do not face immediate imprisonment.
