PERTH WOMAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER DRUNKEN TRAIN ATTACK ON PARTNER
Aimee Crockatt, a woman living in Perth, caused a scandal when she attacked her boyfriend Samuel Rush on a crowded ScotRail train.
The incident occurred on the last train returning from Edinburgh, after the two had enjoyed a day of Christmas shopping which ended in a heated argument following a boozy meal.
According to Perth Sheriff Court, Crockatt, who is employed by a local energy company, pleaded guilty to a domestically aggravated assault committed on December 13.
The court heard that Crockatt's reaction was triggered when Mr Rush began talking to another passenger and appeared to ignore her distress.
Witnesses saw her grabbing Mr Rush by the lapels and delivering multiple punches to his face.
She was met by police upon arriving at Perth train station and fully cooperated.
The couple's relationship was reported to still be strong, and Mr Rush did not want a harassment order to be issued.
The sheriff, William Wood, admonished Crockatt, citing Shakespeare’s quote: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,” and highlighted that she should have known better given her intelligence.
Crockatt was formally admonished in court, which is a lighter penalty, considering no injuries were sustained.
The sheriff suggested this incident was a learning experience and deemed no further punishment necessary.
