AIDEN CLEGG SENTENCED IN HUDDERSFIELD FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING SCHOOLGIRL
In July 2017, a young man from Huddersfield was sentenced to four years in a young offender institution after being convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a minor girl, who subsequently became pregnant.
The incident came to light after the girl secretly underwent an abortion, which prompted police involvement and an investigation into the matter.
At the time of the offense, Aiden Clegg was 18 years old, residing in Ruskin Grove, Sheepridge, while the girl was only 14.
The case was brought before Leeds Crown Court, where a jury found Clegg guilty of sexual activity with a child.
The sentencing took place the following day, with Judge Simon Phillips QC presiding.
During the sentencing, Judge Phillips acknowledged that Clegg was aware of the girl’s age and that she was a virgin at the time of the incident.
The judge emphasized that although the girl did not object to what happened, her young age rendered her incapable of giving informed consent.
The court heard that the girl was concerned about the lack of contraceptive protection used during the encounter, but Clegg had allegedly told her he could not have children, leading her to believe she was not at risk of pregnancy.
