ADRIAN WILLIAMS KILLS CAT IN KINGS NORTON: HORRIFIC ANIMAL ABUSE IN BIRMINGHAM

Adrian Joseph David Williams, a resident of Kings Norton, Birmingham, was convicted in 2022 for a brutal act of animal cruelty involving his pet cat. The incident, which took place on June 30, 2020, outside a shop called Price Cutter, shocked the local community and drew the attention of law enforcement and animal welfare organizations alike.

Williams, born in July 1989 and residing at 122a Parsons Hill, Kings Norton, Birmingham B30 3QP, admitted to inflicting severe blunt force trauma on his cat before deliberately throwing the animal out of a first-floor window. The court heard that Williams claimed he had lost his temper, which led him to hurl the defenseless creature from the height. Witnesses described a distressing scene where the cat, attempting to cling onto a shop roof, resembled a scene from the animated film The Lion King, desperately trying to hold on as it fell.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they found Williams, who was under the influence of cannabis, in a disturbing state. He had placed the injured cat in his shower, leaving it to die. The officers observed the animal lying motionless in the shower cubicle, a clear indication of the severity of the injuries sustained. During the investigation, Williams was recorded on body-worn camera footage stating, “Well basically the cat today has been going everywhere, p***ing everywhere and I lost my temper with him. I have gone to put him out the window and I threw him out the window.”

Eyewitness Dayle Synott, who had just arrived at the shops with his young son, recounted the harrowing incident. He described hearing a loud thud and witnessing the cat tumble from the roof, which was approximately six feet in length. Synott observed the animal gripping onto the ledge of the roof, trying to stay on, but ultimately being forced over the edge by the force of the fall. He described the scene as resembling a moment from The Lion King, with the cat desperately squealing and clinging for its life. Synott further explained that he quickly shielded his son from the distressing sight.

Following the fall, the cat was seen writhing on the pavement, and CCTV footage captured the moment of the fall and the subsequent approach of members of the public who attempted to assist the injured animal. The footage also showed Williams arriving on the scene and scooping up the suffering cat.

Veterinary expert Dr. Sean Taylor examined the animal and identified injuries consistent with blunt force trauma to the left side of the cat’s face. He stated that the injuries were inconsistent with a simple fall, suggesting the cat was unconscious when it was thrown from the window. Dr. Taylor explained that cats have an innate ability to right themselves during a fall, landing on their feet unless unconscious or severely injured. The fact that the cat was found gripping onto the shop roof was likely circumstantial, not indicative of a natural reflex.

Williams, who is also known by the name Aidréan Williams, is a company director and musician performing under the aliases Big Que or Q-Madness. He is co-owner of Madness Records and has a background as an actor, producer, artist, and mixing & mastering engineer, according to his profile on the Backstage website. Originally from Galway, Ireland, Williams also has ties to South East London and holds an Irish passport.

Following his arrest, Williams declined to participate in a police interview, offering only a 'no comment' response. During the court proceedings, District Judge John Bristow found Williams guilty of two animal welfare offenses in his absence, as he had not provided medical evidence to justify his inability to attend the trial. The judge concluded that Williams had inflicted the injuries on the cat before throwing it from the window, with evidence indicating deliberate cruelty.

Williams had initially claimed he could not attend the trial due to a physical disability, but the court determined that proceeding in his absence was in the interest of justice. The court also noted that Williams has mental health issues, though no further details were disclosed. He was not legally represented during the trial, and sentencing was scheduled for a later date, with no further information available at this time.
