ADRIAN SOLWAY SENTENCED IN THE ISLE OF MAN FOR ABUSING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND TAKING INDECENT IMAGES
In a recent case that has shocked the community on the Isle of Man, Adrian Solway, aged 31, was convicted and sentenced for heinous acts involving a young girl. The incident, which took place on October 19 of the previous year, involved the abuse of a 12-year-old girl and the taking of indecent images, leading to his imprisonment and placement on the sex offenders register.According to court records, Solway's actions on that day included touching and kissing the young girl, actions that caused significant distress and trauma. The severity of his misconduct was compounded when he took upskirting photographs of her, an act that added a disturbing dimension to his offenses. The court heard that these images were captured on the same day as the physical abuse, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior.
The case came to light after the young girl reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation that ultimately led to Solway's arrest. During his detention, Solway attempted to justify his actions by claiming that the images were meant to demonstrate that the girl’s skirt was too short, a defense that was dismissed by the court.
At the sentencing hearing held at Douglas Courthouse, Deemster Graeme Cook expressed his condemnation of Solway’s conduct, emphasizing the profound impact on the victim. The judge described the actions as creating “horror for this young girl,” and sentenced Solway to two years and two months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes.
Further details revealed that Solway had also downloaded a game containing paedophilic content, which he admitted to playing at least twice. This evidence underscored the predatory nature of his behavior and contributed to the court’s decision to impose a lengthy sentence.
Having been found guilty of one count of indecent assault and two counts of taking indecent images after a trial, Adrian Solway’s conviction marks a significant step in addressing the abuse and protecting vulnerable individuals on the Isle of Man.
