ADRIAN RANDLE FROM LEEDS AND WAKEFIELD SENTENCED FOR DECADES-OLD SEX OFFENCES

In a case that has spanned several decades, Adrian Randle, a man with ties to both Leeds and Wakefield, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences committed against young boys nearly thirty years ago.

Randle, now 50 years old, was brought before Leeds Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to a total of 15 criminal charges related to his abuse of two victims during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The court heard that the abuse took place over a period of three years, with the victims aged between 11 and 14 at the time. The judge described the nature of the offences against one of the victims as “a prolonged campaign of sexual offending,” highlighting the severity and sustained nature of Randle’s actions.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that the offences occurred in the Harehills area of Leeds, where Randle was living in his early twenties when he committed these crimes. Evidence presented in court indicated that some of the abuse involved Randle providing alcohol to the young boys, further manipulating and coercing them. Additionally, he used gifts and money as means to silence the victims, ensuring their silence and complicity in the crimes.

Randle, who resides at Park Green, Normanton, Wakefield, admitted to multiple serious charges, including three counts of buggery, one count of attempted buggery, five counts of indecent assault, and six counts of indecency with a child. The court was also informed that one of the victims lived in constant fear for many years, believing that he might have contracted HIV as a result of Randle’s sexual attacks. Fortunately, subsequent medical tests confirmed that the victim was HIV-negative when he reached adulthood.

The case also shed light on the fact that these offences went unreported for many years, which allowed Randle to continue his predatory behaviour. During this period, he committed additional sex offences against two other young boys, further compounding the gravity of his crimes. It was also disclosed that Randle had previously served a three-year prison sentence in 1992 for sex offences involving a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old victim, indicating a pattern of predatory behaviour that spanned many years.

Following his guilty plea, Randle was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison, a decision that reflects the serious nature of his crimes and the impact on his victims. The case underscores the importance of reporting such offences promptly to prevent further harm and to bring offenders to justice, regardless of how much time has passed since the crimes occurred.
