Adele Bridle

Newton Abbot Tavistock Sexual Abuser

January 2015 Devon woman who downloaded images of schoolgirl rape admits breaking SOPO A female sex offender has admitted breaking the terms of her registration by working at a steam railway without telling police of her new address. Adele Bridle was required to tell the authorities about her movements because she has a conviction for downloading child abuse images on the internet four years ago. The former psychology student was living in Newton Abbot but broke the conditions of the register by working as a volunteer on a steam railway in Wales for more than seven days. Bridle, aged 33, of Croft Road, Newton Abbot, admitted failing to comply with the notification procedures between February 22 and April 20 last year. She denied two similar offences of failing to notify police that she was using the different surname of Jarvis and not giving enough notice of a trip abroad. Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, adjourned her case at Exeter Crown Court to allow the Crown Prosecution Service time to decide if they wish to proceed with the two remaining charges. Mr Rupert Taylor, defending, said the offences were technical in nature and suggested the case could be dealt with by a conditional discharge. He said she had worked at a steam railway in Wales and stayed away from home for a total of 13 days but not realised she had to tell the police because she was never there for more than a few days at a time. He said she used a different surname at the request of the charity which she was working for but has made no attempt to live under a false name. He said:”She thought if she was not away from home for more than seven nights consecutively it did not exceed the regulations. She has now found out that was an error.” Bridle, who was living at Glenville Road, Tavistock, at the time, was placed on the register and ordered to receive supervision by a Judge at a court in London when she admitted child pornography offences in 2011. Many of the images that were found were in the most horrific categories, levels four and five, and some involved children as young as four and five years of age. Her perverted ways came to light after her mother took the laptop she had been using in for repair. As a result of what repairers found the mother was herself arrested and quizzed about the contents of the computer November 2011 Woman, 30, admits child abuse images charges A 30-year-old woman who downloaded dozens of sick pornographic images involving children and animals has been spared jail. Pyschology student Adele Bridle, of Tavistock, surfed the internet seeking images of schoolgirl rape, Isleworth Crown Court was told. Many of the images she found were in the most horrific categories, levels four and five, and some involved children as young as four and five years of age. Her perverted ways came to light after her mother took the laptop she had been using in for repair. As a result of what repairers found the mother was herself arrested and quizzed about the contents of the computer, the court heard. Prosecutor Pamela Reiss said: “The images were found after Ms Bridle’s mother took the laptop to be repaired and the person repairing it saw these images and contacted the police and they found various images on two laptops.” More than 100 movies and images of children were found, the court was told. The images were downloaded from a free website and around 15 extreme images involving animals and adults were recovered. Defence counsel Richard Doman said Bridle, of Glanville Road, had not intended to download the images. He told the judge she had a terrible upbringing surrounded by domestic abuse and had tried to kill herself on numerous occasions. Judge Richard McGregor-Johnson said: “The children who were taking part sexually, who were being photographed or filmed, were being abused full-stop and that’s going to stay with them for the rest of their lives.” The judge said that with her background she should have appreciated the effect this had on the victims. He said such offences often attracted immediate prison sentences of around six months but said he would not be jailing because of her mitigating circumstances and the assistance she gave to the police. Bridle pleaded guilty to eight counts of possessing indecent images of children and was given a two-year community order, made subject to a sexual offences prevention order and must sign on the sex offenders register for five years.
