ADAM WILLMORE FROM NEWHAVEN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a case that has shocked the community of Newhaven, a local sex offender, Adam Willmore, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in a serious criminal act that has had lifelong repercussions for his young victim. The incident, which took place between July and September of 2012, involved Willmore engaging in unlawful sexual activities with a girl who was only 15 years old at the time.Willmore, aged 23 and residing on The Crescent in Newhaven, was initially sentenced at Hove Crown Court earlier this month to a term of three years in prison. However, following an appeal, his sentence was reduced to two years and eight months. The court's decision came after Willmore pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16, which ultimately resulted in the girl becoming pregnant.
The gravity of the case was underscored by the fact that the victim was particularly vulnerable, and the consequences of the offense have left an indelible mark on her life. The court also imposed a ten-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) on Willmore, which imposes strict restrictions on his access to children and young people. Additionally, he will remain on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Detective Constable John Steven commented on the case, stating, “The victim in this case was vulnerable and her life has changed forever, something which cannot be undone. The sentence imposed will ensure that the risk from this man is minimized and emphasizes that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the justice system to protect minors and hold offenders accountable for their actions, especially in communities like Newhaven where such incidents can deeply affect the local population.
