ADAM STOCK FROM LEYLAND SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN HIS HOME

In a harrowing case heard at Preston Crown Court, Adam Stock, a 32-year-old man from Leyland, was sentenced to a decade behind bars after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses against a woman in her own residence. The court proceedings revealed the profound trauma inflicted upon the victim, who was left devastated by the assault and the subsequent impact on her mental health.

Stock’s criminal history includes previous convictions for sex offenses, and his recent actions have only compounded concerns about his dangerousness. The court was informed that he had been released from prison in 2021, having served only part of an eight-year sentence for a series of ten sex-related crimes. His release was conditional, but the recent offenses demonstrated a troubling pattern of behavior.

Judge Andrew Jefferies, presiding over the case, emphasized the severity of the crimes committed by Stock. He stated that the offender was perilously close to receiving a life sentence, given the gravity of his actions. The judge clarified that Stock would be required to serve a minimum of two-thirds of his 10-year sentence before he could even consider applying for parole. He issued a stern warning, saying, “If you have not changed your attitude to women after that period, then the Parole Board will not release you, and you would have to serve the full 10 years.”

During the court proceedings, Stock pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault. The incidents occurred despite the victim’s clear refusal to engage in sexual activity, both in her bedroom and later in the lounge of her home. The court heard that the sexual assault was witnessed by the victim’s young son, who heard the argument and came downstairs to find the disturbing scene.

The prosecuting counsel, Tim Evans, detailed the profound psychological impact on the victim and her child. Both were left deeply traumatized, with the woman suffering from severe psychological harm, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In a victim impact statement read aloud in court, she described feeling “completely and utterly broken” by the ordeal. She recounted vivid flashbacks, nightmares, and difficulty sleeping, often waking up crying and screaming. Her statement expressed a loss of trust and belief in others, and she revealed that she had experienced suicidal thoughts.

She also described feeling as though her body had been stolen from her and expressed disgust at her own reflection, stating, “I don’t even recognize myself anymore.” The trauma extended to her relationship with her son, who witnessed the assault and now lives in fear. The victim explained that her home no longer feels safe, and she constantly sees Stock’s face in her mind, feeling “a complete mess.”

Mr. Evans highlighted that Stock is “plainly a highly dangerous individual,” and the court was told that his actions have left the victim feeling physically sick when near men. The court also heard that her sense of identity has been shattered, and she struggles with everyday life, haunted by the memories of the assault.

Judge Jefferies condemned Stock’s refusal to accept “no” as an answer, emphasizing the repeated nature of his offenses. He pointed out the disturbing similarity between this case and Stock’s previous convictions, which underscored the risk he poses to society.

As part of his sentence, the judge ordered that Stock serve an extended three-year license period upon release and remain on the sex offenders’ register for life, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing threat he represents to the community.
