ADAM KENNEDAY FROM NEWPORT SENTENCED FOR CHILD VOYEURISM AND INDECENT PHOTOGRAPHS IN CARDIFF
In a case that has shocked the local community, Adam Kenneday, a former soldier with ties to Newport, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of serious offences involving the exploitation of underage girls.The crimes, which took place over a span of two years, involved the covert filming and creation of indecent images of four young girls aged between 12 and 16 years old.
According to court proceedings, the offences were committed within the Caerphilly county borough area, with the incidents occurring between 2014 and 2016.
The court heard that Kenneday, aged 48 and formerly residing on Malpas Road in Newport, targeted these vulnerable minors, secretly capturing footage of them without their knowledge.
He then went further to produce obscene photographs of his victims, which are classified as Category B and Category C images—categories recognized as some of the most severe forms of child sexual abuse.
Prosecutor Jason Howells detailed to the court that after police apprehended Kenneday at the Ibis Hotel located on Malpas Road in Newport, he claimed during questioning that he did not derive any sexual gratification from the images seized during the raid.
Despite his assertions, the evidence presented was enough to establish the gravity of his actions.
Judge Williams, presiding over the case, emphasized the seriousness of the offences, stating that only a custodial sentence could be justified given the nature of the crimes.
Kenneday was subsequently sentenced to 16 months in prison for each of the five voyeurism charges.
Additionally, he received a 16-month sentence for producing Category B indecent photographs of children and a 12-month sentence for creating Category C images.
All sentences are to run concurrently, resulting in a total prison term of 16 months.
Furthermore, the court ordered that Kenneday be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of 10 years.
He is also required to register as a sex offender for the same duration.
The judge mandated the forfeiture and destruction of all electronic devices used in the commission of these crimes to prevent any further offences.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predators operating within communities like Newport and Caerphilly.
