ADAM DOCHERTY SENTENCED IN FALKIRK FOR SEXUAL AND VIOLENT OFFENSES IN GLASGOW
Police Scotland has officially announced the sentencing of Adam Docherty, a 22-year-old man from Falkirk, following a court hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, 16 April 2021. The court found Docherty guilty of multiple serious sexual and violent crimes committed against three women over a period spanning from 2017 to 2018.In a decisive ruling, the court sentenced Docherty to six years in prison. Additionally, he has been ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Docherty’s crimes, which involved heinous acts against vulnerable women, were brought to light after a thorough investigation by police authorities. The guilty verdict was delivered last month, confirming his involvement in these disturbing incidents. The crimes took place across different locations within the Falkirk area, but the court proceedings and sentencing occurred in Glasgow, highlighting the regional cooperation in tackling such serious offenses.
Detective Inspector Yvonne O'Rourke, representing the Forth Valley Division Public Protection Unit, expressed her firm stance on the case. She stated, “It is clear that Adam Docherty is a violent and dangerous man, who showed no remorse or thought for his victims during or following his vile actions.”
Inspector O'Rourke emphasized the importance of the victims’ bravery, saying, “Had it not been for the courage of the victims coming forward, his crimes may have gone unanswered for. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their bravery in providing us with statements and testifying in court.”
She further reaffirmed Police Scotland’s commitment to justice, stating, “This conviction should send out a clear message that Police Scotland is committed to bringing the perpetrators of sexual offences to justice, while providing all the relevant support and assistance to those that require it.”
