COLWYN BAY MAN SENTENCED FOR RESTRAINING ORDER BREACH AND ASSAULT
A man named Adam Clarke, residing on Ffordd Dawel in Colwyn Bay, was sentenced for breaching a restraining order and assaulting a woman. The court heard that Clarke had previously been convicted of two breaches of a five-year restraining order imposed in January 2022, which barred him from contacting or approaching Jade Dawson.
On July 13 this year, Clarke was outside Ms Dawson's grandmother's home shouting, repeatedly calling her using his number and a blocked one.
When she answered, he told her he was outside.
Ms Dawson went to the street to confront him, but Clarke grabbed her in a bear hug and attempted to walk her down the street, asking her to go with him.
He then punched her in the face, causing her to fall and hit her head, and also resulted in a nosebleed.
In her disoriented state, she saw Clarke running away from the scene.
These actions violated the court order as well as breached two suspended sentences for previous breaches.
Clarke's defense highlighted his guilty pleas and remorse, but the judge emphasized that Clarke posed a high risk of reoffending and harm to partners, resulting in a sentence of 20 months imprisonment, with an additional activation of three months from each of the breached suspended sentences, totaling 26 months.
