EDINBURGH MAN GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
AUGUST 2025: SPOTTED IN DUNDEE, FIREWATER AND EVEN DUNDEE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS.A man identified as Abu Huraira, aged 23, was found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with a 15-year-old girl.
The incident occurred at his flat in Victoria Street, Edinburgh, during a Halloween party in October 2019.
Huraira was accused of giving the girl alcohol, specifically a bottle of Cactus Jack schnapps, until she passed out.
When she woke up, she was naked in bed with Huraira on top of her.
The girl, distressed and confused, later confided in her family that she had no idea how she ended up in that situation.
Court reports cited her saying she was "scared" during the assault and that Huraira subsequently shared footage of the act via Snapchat, with his friends filming the incident.
The girl revealed that Huraira's friends were recording and sharing the footage.
Huraira, a university student studying nursing, claimed he was unaware of her age and that he did not know she was underage.
His lawyer stated that Huraira was 19 at the time and was working as a care assistant at a local hospital, emphasizing that he does not drink alcohol due to his faith.
The court sentenced Huraira to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for an unspecified term, with the judge ordering that he be released on bail and a further sentencing deferred for social work assessment.
Huraira's guilty plea covered sexual penetration with an underage girl between October 26 and 27, 2019.
The case highlighted the serious nature of the offense, with the victim's report describing her confusion and fear during the incident and the sharing of the explicit footage.
The court's decision underscores the gravity of sexual offenses involving minors and the importance of accountability.
