ABDULLAHI MOHAMMED SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR RAPE IN HENDON

In a case that has shocked the Hendon community, Abdullahi Mohammed, aged 30, of Watling Avenue, HA8, was handed a substantial prison sentence after being convicted of a brutal assault that took place at a residential address in Hendon on September 27, 2018. The sentencing occurred at Harrow Crown Court on Monday, 19 August, where Mohammed received a total of over ten years behind bars for his heinous crimes.

Mohammed was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape, attempted rape, making a threat to kill, and possession of a pointed or bladed article. The court sentenced him to ten years and two months for the rape and attempted rape, with an additional five years extended license period. The sentences for attempted rape, threat to kill, and possession of a weapon were ordered to run concurrently, meaning they would be served alongside the primary sentence. Specifically, he received four and a half years for the threat to kill and 15 months for possessing the bladed object. All these convictions stemmed from a plea of guilty that Mohammed entered during an earlier hearing in February.

The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the attack. The incident unfolded at the victim’s home in Hendon, where Mohammed, who was only a vague acquaintance of her family, unexpectedly appeared after calling her out of the blue. Despite her efforts to dissuade him by claiming she had another visitor arriving soon, Mohammed disregarded her warnings and showed up at her residence. Once inside, the woman attempted to offer him some tea in the kitchen, but the situation quickly escalated. Mohammed suddenly grabbed her from behind, brandishing a knife and threatening her life. He then forced her into the lounge, where he committed the assault.

During the attack, Mohammed threw the knife he had used out of a window into the communal area, an act that was captured by a neighbor who witnessed the incident. After the assault, Mohammed left the scene to retrieve his weapon, prompting the victim to raise the alarm. A neighbor responded swiftly, photographing Mohammed as he was retrieving the knife. The police were contacted immediately, and officers arrested Mohammed later that same day. His arrest and subsequent conviction highlight the severity of the crime and the justice served for the victim in this distressing case in Hendon.
