FENHAM BUSINESSMAN ABDULAH DICKMAN CAUGHT VIEWING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN NEWCASTLE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community of Fenham, Newcastle, Abdulah Dickman, a married businessman, was found to have accessed and viewed indecent images of children. The incident came to light in February of the previous year when authorities conducted a search at his residence on Wingrove Avenue.

During the police investigation, officers seized multiple electronic devices from Dickman's home. These devices contained a total of 111 indecent photographs of children, along with one illegal movie. Prosecutor Claire Anderson, representing the Crown, provided details about the nature of the images, stating in court that the children depicted were predominantly female and ranged in age from five to twelve years old. Importantly, none of the images fell into the most severe category of child exploitation material.

Dickman, aged 42, was forthcoming with the police during questioning. He admitted that he had initially come across the illegal material by accident while browsing online. However, he also confessed that his curiosity led him to seek out more images, which he viewed while his wife and children were away from home. His explanation suggested that loneliness and boredom contributed to his actions, according to court records.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of making indecent images of children, covering the period from March 2019 to February 2020. It was noted during the hearing that Dickman had no previous convictions, although he had been cautioned in 2012 for a similar offense involving possession of 152 indecent movies.

Judge Robert Adams delivered the sentence, which included a four-month prison term suspended for two years. The court also imposed several conditions, including a requirement for Dickman to participate in rehabilitation programs, adhere to a sexual harm prevention order, and register as a sex offender for the next seven years. Additionally, he was ordered to pay costs amounting to £425.

In his remarks, Judge Adams emphasized the seriousness of the offense, stating, “You were warned, effectively, once but, as you admit in the pre-sentence report, you were drawn back to it, an addiction effectively on your part.” The judge’s comments underscored the ongoing risk posed by such behavior and the importance of monitoring and rehabilitation efforts to prevent future offenses.
